Player Housing & Property

In Darklordz Online, the world never sleeps – but you should. Whether you’re dozing off beside a fire, renting a room in a tavern, or one day building a home of your own, where and how you rest matters.

Housing in Darklordz is not just cosmetic. It’s about survival, persistence, and protection. Even logging out is part of your character’s story – because the world continues without you.

Inns & Taverns

Most towns and outposts feature Inns, Taverns, or Lodges where players can pay to rent a room.

  • Use the rent room command or speak to the innkeeper.
  • Rent is paid per in-game day (or real-time hours, depending on balance).
  • While logged out in a rented room:
    • You regenerate more health, stamina, and mana.
    • You may gain a “Well Rested” buff on login.
    • You’re safe from theft, ambush, or weather penalties.

You’ll wake up exactly where you slept, ready to resume your adventure – unless something strange happened while you were out…

Sleeping Outdoors

If you log out in the wilderness without any shelter:

  • You’re marked as “Exposed” — cold, wet, vulnerable.
  • On login, you may suffer:
    • Reduced stats
    • Fatigue or hunger
    • Temporary debuffs (“Chilled”, “Sore”, “Numb”)
  • NPCs may comment on your rough appearance.

Logging out in the open is discouraged, but not fatal – unless you make a habit of it.

Tents & Temporary Shelter

Some players won’t always make it to town – for them, there are tents, lean-tos, or camp kits.

  • Setting up a tent gives you a safe-ish place to sleep, protected from weather and some enemies.
  • Tents can:
    • Provide partial rest bonuses
    • Store a few items
    • Act as a mini-logout buffer (safer than nothing)
  • Tents can be looted or destroyed by other players or mobs if left unguarded.

Crafting or buying a good-quality tent may be one of your best investments as a solo traveler.

Player-Owned Property (Planned Future Feature)

Eventually, players will be able to own land and build permanent homes.

Ideas include:

  • Cabins, farms, hideouts, or customizable homes
  • Store items securely (with risk if not protected)
  • Add crafting stations or decorative trophies
  • Invite friends or lock out rivals
  • Defend your home from raids or thieves
  • Gain passive bonuses while resting or crafting on your own land

Larger settlements may allow players to buy plots or housing deeds, while rural areas may allow for land staking and building from scratch.

Faction or Guild Housing (Planned Future Feature)

  • Join a faction stronghold or guild hall to gain access to shared storage, teleporters, war rooms, or training areas.
  • Some groups may offer housing as a reward for loyalty or reputation milestones.
  • Guild leaders may customize interiors, set access permissions, and decorate their space to represent their power.

Long-Term Resting Plans

We aim to make logging out immersive and strategic, even if your character doesn’t remain physically visible in the world.

  • Where you log out matters – a warm bed grants bonuses, while sleeping in the cold wilderness may penalize you.
  • How you rest affects your return – tents offer better recovery than bare ground, but not as good as an inn.
  • What you carry and how well you prepare before logging out can make the difference between waking up strong or suffering from fatigue, cold, or hunger.

Your character doesn’t stay in the world while you’re offline – but the conditions of your rest are remembered, and you’ll feel the consequences (good or bad) when you return.
